African masks, shields, statues, etc are used in Occult Healing. Mask, frequently with an elaborate costume as well, is a way of concealing and submerging your own personality and identifying yourselves with a spirit or other supernatural character in dance or drama. African jujus, (shaped like snakes, hands, figures, and other things are also used. Here are a few other items that are used:
- Statues of foreign gods; Buddha, fertility; Crystal stones, peeping stones; Black stones
- Hindu statues of gods and goddesses, snake beetles, etc.
- Egyptian symbols, art and jewelry
Catholic idols
Statues and articles of images of Jesus, Mary, Joseph, saints, Rosary beads, metals dedicated to saints and holy people, relics (pieces of bone or objects from dead saints). “In almost all countries then, we meet with something in the nature of prayer counters or rosary beads. “. . . including sculpture of ancient Nineveh, mentioned by Layard, of two-winged females praying before a sacred tree, each holding a rosary. For centuries, among the Mohammedan, a bead string consisting of 33, 66, or 99 beads has been used for counting the names of Allah. Marco Polo, in the thirteenth century, was surprised to find the King of Malabar using a rosary of precious stones to count his prayers. St. Francis Xavier and his companion were equally astonished to see that rosaries were universally familiar to the Buddhists of Japan.
The veneration of dead bodies of martyrs was ordered by the Council of Trent, the Council which also condemned those who did not believe in relics. “The holy bodies of holy martyrs . . . are to be venerated by the faithful, for through these bodies many benefits are bestowed by God on men, so that they who affirm that venation and honor are not due to the relics of the saints are wholly to be condemned, as the Church has already long since condemned and also now condemns them.
Symbols play a vital role to those involved in the New Age Movement. The symbol served both as a form of universal language and a device for helping to reinforce and altered or trance-like state of consciousness. A familiar symbol brings a person a kindred spirit. Since he was taught in his mediation classes to respond emotionally to certain symbols, when he again sees them, a conditioned response is reactivated. Satan uses symbols as a key to unlock the altered or trance-like states of consciousness.
- The unicorn — a mythical horse like animal with a single horn in its forehead.
- A symbol of transformation. Its purpose is a tear, destroys and then renew
- A regeneration symbol New Age ideas of “rebirth” and “transformation” by the acquisition of biblically condemned psychic or “spiritual powers.”
- Pegasus — Gk. Myth Winged flying horse.
- Idolatry (worshiping or esteeming something or someone above the living God, including secret societies): (Jer. 44:8; Dan. 9:11; Jer. 11:3).

This is a very good article. However, I do not agree with you calling “Unicorn” a mythical creature.
The Bible (KJV) talks of “Unicorns” as a very real animal in many places. I don’t think the Bible’s mistaken. For e.g. Numbers 23:22 , Numbers 24:8 , Deuteronomy 33:17 , Job 39:9 , Job 39:10 , Psalm 22:21 , Psalm 29:6 , Psalm 92:1 , Isaiah 34:7

UNICORN: To many New Agers and wizards and witches, the unicorn means power, purification, healing, wisdom, self-knowledge, renewal and eternal life. Origin: In the 4th century BC, Greek historian Ctesias told about a wild animal with healing powers and a spiral horn on its forehead. Medieval myths suggested it could only be caught with help from a virgin who would befriend it.

It is generally allowed that there is no such beast in nature as the unicorn: i.e., a creature of the horse kind, with one long rich curled horn in the forehead. The creature painted from fancy is represented as one of the supporters of the royal arms of Great Britain. It is difficult to say what kind of beast is intended by the original word. The Septuagint translate the word monokeros, the unicorn, or one-horned animal; the Vulgate, sometimes, unicornus; and in the text rhinocerotis, by which the rhinoceros, a creature which has its name from the horn on its nose, is supposed to be meant. That no single-horned animal can be intended by the reem of Moses, is sufficiently evident from this, that Moses, speaking of Joseph, says, “he has the HORNS of A unicorn,” or reem, where the horns are spoken of in the plural, the animal in the singular. The creature referred to is either the rhinoceros, some varieties of which have two horns on the nose, or the wild bull, urus, or buffalo; though some think the beast intended is a species of goat, but the rhinoceros seems the most likely. There is literally a monoceros, or unicorn, with one large curled ivory horn growing horizontally out of his snout; but this is not a land animal, it is the modiodan or nurwal, a marine animal of the whale kind, a horn of which is now before me, measuring seven feet four inches, but I believe the rhinoceros is that intended by the sacred writers.

[An unicorn] A wild bull, the now extinct Aurochs, formidable for its size, strength, speed, and ferocity.
Dear Pastor Holliday,
Thank you so much for taking the time to research and respond.
My point is that the Bible intended an animal that was commonplace during the time that the Bible was written. As we all know, language changes over time and hence new words are created all the time. In addition, lots of animals are extinct. Is it possible that Unicorns were extinct by 1500, when the original manuscripts were translated?
I do not pretend to be a Bible scholar. If anything, I’m a newbie. So please bear with me.
Many Commentaries refer to Behemoth as Elephants or Rhinocerous and Leviathan as Crocodiles. However, anyone reading with an open mind will understand that both refer to dinosaurs, which must have been existing at the time of Job. But I digress.
Once again thank you for replying
God Bless You for your wonderful work!
Dear Roussel
Keep reading and we will not always agree. But you’ll see new things that are usually not available on other sites.
Blessings.

Dear Pastor Pat,
Thanks for understanding.
As a Christian I’m learning on how to disagree (sometimes unavoidable) without being disagreeable.
In Christ,

Hello
I found your website while trying to find information on African masks.
I am a strong Christian and I realise the Christian life is a relationship with Jesus Christ but also a spiritual warfare. I recently took a job as a housesitter to a woman who teaches in African. She has about 20 different African masks hanging on the walls of her home. Also statutes of various objects and things that I am not familiar with. I did ask her about one statute that looked like a man with sharp objects coming out and into him. She told me that the sharp objects represented demons. I prayed about the job and felt the Lord was leading me to stay here. The woman is an athesist. I have proclaimed the blood of Christ over me and the home and I have just managed to ignore the masks however I am always aware of their presence. My little granddaughter came over and said she did not like the masks she is three. Do I need to be more concerned? I do not want the spirit of fear to come in because I DON’T have a spirit of fear but of love , power, and a sound mind. But on the otherhand I do not want to be ignorant in this area. In my life I have had to deal with demonic activity in other people…and I have wondered if God is calling me into this kind of ministry. Your fellowship would be grately appreciated. My Christian friends just seem nonchalant about the situation stating we have the power in the blood of Christ.
Thanks for responding
God Bless you
Dear Vicki
African Mask have many demons attached and can do great harm when they are brought into a home. Powers are placed on them and the demons will even kill the people who bring them in. In Africa, Bishop Kanco will immediately leave a meeting of thousands to go to one person’s house to help them to get rid of the masks and idolatry. He says, if you don’t get them out, the demons will kill the person.
You may want to get the E-book “Spiritual Weapons.” It will help you to learn to defend yourself.
Blessings Pat
I lived with a friend for about 7 months. I recently was asked to leave her home by other christians. So I moved out. The lady I went to church with said she tried to pray for me twice in the past and she couldn’t get through and someone else looked at pictures I had of her home and saw the african mask and symbols in her home and said she got bad vibes from it. I know the lady have internal problems. She gets extremely angry can’t be around people etc. When I lived with her it was hard. I couldn’t even be around her because it felt like something was controling her. She is a nice person at times. She does wonderful things for people but I know she is very troubled. I also recalled finding a ouiji board in her garage, at the time I didnt know what it was. She also told me at one time she was a spiritualist. She lights candles and incense to clean away bad energy. We have no contact anymore.
My question is how did me living there effect my life and is she able to find hope in God one day?
You need to keep your defenses up in prayer. God is the one saves… If He calls her, he’ll open her heart to believe.
JESUS IS OUR WEAPON AGAINST SATAN
Isaiah says, “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise in judgment against thee thou shalt condemn” (Isaiah 54:17). Its defense, Isaiah says, shall be immaterial. “We have a strong city; salvation shall God appoint for walls and bulwarks” (Isaiah 26:1); “thou shalt call thy walls salvation and thy gates praise” Isaiah 60:18). By a different figure it is said, “I will encamp about mine house because of the army” (Zechariah 9:8). As Isaiah says, “The Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory” (Isaiah 60:19); and of Christ, “In that day shall the Branch of the Lord be Beauty and Glory-to the escaped of Israel” (Isaiah 4:2).
Matthew 4:1-11
Although Jesus was both the Son of God and the Son of man, Satan‘s notion that he could reach his humanity, he dealt with Him qs a human made of flesh and bone, but not as God in the flesh (Col 2:9). However the Holy Ghost came at His baptism to supernaturally empower Him for His life’s work. Also Jesus was without doubt “The Word . . . made flesh” (John 1:14) that He did not hesitate to have an encounter with Satan.
We as believers, however, are not so led by the Spirit to be tempted by Satan. Rather, Satan is an adversary whom Peter compares to “a roaring lion, [who] walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8). Therefore, Jesus teaches us to pray, “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil” (Matthew 6:13).
Keep your defenses up if God Calls her she’ll get saved but It’s in His hands.
