The Lord Jesus Christ Gave Ministry Gifts

Faith Building

He give these ministry gifts; when He ascended on high taking with Him the Old Testament saints, who had awaited the consummation of God’s great plan of redemption since their physical death in Paradise Abraham’s bosom. Other words, these ministry gifts came fresh from the hand of the exalted Christ where He now sits at God’s right hand in heaven.

“Wherefore he saith, when he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?) He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens that he might fill all things.” (Eph. 4:8-10).

For how long did He give the ministry gifts? “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:13).

He gave these gifts to men, “Till we all come . . . unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”
Until Jesus comes, “all of us” will never come to that place of maturity.

When Jesus comes, some babes will just have been born into the family of God. They will not have had time to mature. These ministry gifts are God’s programs for the maturing of the saints until Christ comes for His own. The Church needs all-round spiritual growth to arrive at her destined perfection in Christ. The ministry gift’s Christ placed in the Church helps us grow up into His image.

We cannot reach that place without the function of the fivefold ministry.

The ultimate aim of all ministries is not for self glory or to magnify the human in any way.
It is entirely toward the Body of Christ.
It takes all these ministries functioning to edify – build up – the Body of Christ.
Praise God for the gifts through which we are enabled to be in the ministry.
Praise Him for the edifying of the Body of Christ
Praise Him for the gifts, the manifestations of the Holy Spirit, which empower us for the ministry.

God’s Gifts are the avenue which enables us to bring to others the life-giving relationship which can take place with Jesus Christ our Lord.

We must never glorify the gifts; they are an asset to the relationship. Let us instead glorify Him who is the Giver of the Gifts for ministry and relate to Him who is the Giver of Life. God’s word solemnly warns those who discredit miracles and refuse to accept Jesus.

“How shall we escape, if we neglect so Great salvation which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard; God also bearing witness; Both with signs and wonders, and with divers MIRACLES, and GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT,” (Hebr. 2:3,4).

Jesus rebuked cities who did not believe when they saw the miracles! (Matt.11: 12). A miracle will still draw the heathen to listen to the Gospel accepting Jesus Christ as the Son of God, (Matt. 11:21).

Jesus was “approved of God among you by MIRACLES AND WONDERS AND SIGNS,” (Acts 2:22).
God approves His ministers the same way

“These signs shall follow the believers: In MY NAME shall they cast out devils . . . they shall lay hands on the SICK, and they shall recover,” (Mk. 1:20).

Miracles in the Old Testament

If God gave this gift to Old Testament and New Testament Saints, why would he take this gift from today’s church?

(Acts 10:34), “Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons.” The devil is still around today.

Healing is still consider a benefit by those who needed it and will accept Christ’s healing touch!

Mark dedicates more of his account to Jesus’ miracles than any of the other Gospel writers. For Mark, these miracles were a demonstration of Jesus’ power. His power over disease, death, to provide food, His authority to forgive sin, the forces of evil, power over evil spirits not in His immediate proximity, power to heal the blind, and even over nature.

Many flocked to Him to be healed and fed. Some wondered who Jesus was. However, others followed Him. Jesus is a miracle worker.

Miracle reveals Jesus as the Son of God:

The Jews, (Jn. 2:23; Jn. 7:31).
Religious leaders of the Jews, (Jn. 3:3).
Nicodemus believed in Jesus;
“For no man can do these miracles that thou doest except God be with him,” (Jn. 6:2).

Miracles are signs in disciples.

Peter was approved of God by miracles, (Acts 3:6, 7, Acts 9: 33-35, Acts 9:37- 42, Acts 5:15:16).
Phillip was approved of God by miracles (Acts 8:6- 8,13).
Stephen was approved of God by Miracles (Acts 6:8).
Converts were approved of God by miracles, (Mk. 16:20).
Miracles confirmed the Christian gospel and assisted in the establishment of a firm foundation for the church. Everywhere the Disciples preached and healed the sick and cast out devils, multitudes turned to Christ!

Heb 13:8, — “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” KJV
Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the Throne of God, interceding for us, and all our problems! “. . . Come boldly to Throne of Grace, that ye may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need,” (Heb. 4:12).

“The city of Samaria gave heed to the WORD that Philip sake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits, crying with old voices came out of many that were possessed: many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city,” (Acts 8:5-8).

All the inhabitants of Sharon and Lydda “turned to the Lord when Peter told Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, sick of the palsy, “Jesus Christ maketh three whole. Arise and make thy bed. And he Arose immediately,” (Acts 9:33-35).

“Many believed in Joppa when Peter raised Dorcas from the dead,” (Acts9:42).
“Some of the converts were “The People at Lystra thought God had come down to them when they saw the crippled man leap and walk at Paul’s command,” (Acts 14:8-18).

“And by the hands of the Apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people, and believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women. Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the Shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. If God gave this gift to Old Testament and New Testament Saints, why would he take this gift from today’s church?

Intercession of the Holy Spirit

In connection with the subject of intercession, the question is to whether the Holy Spirit is not presented in Scriptures as an intercessor.

(Rom. 8:26). “In like manner the Spirit also helpeth our infirmity: for we know not how to pray as we ought; but the Spirit himself maketh intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered; and he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

One explanation has been given that the Holy Spirit is here referred to as dwelling in us and thus making intercession. The Divine Spirit is said to be a Spirit of supplication, Zachariah 12:10.

The distinction which is made between the intercession of Christ in heaven in His priestly office and that of the Holy Spirit interceding within the souls of believers, referred to by Shedd (see Commentary on Romans), must be carefully used, for if pressed to its extreme it would lead to the materialization and localization of the Divine nature. Moreover, may not the intercession of Our Lord be regarded as being partially exemplified in that of the Spirit whom He has declared to be His agent and representative? If Christ dwells in believers by His Spirit, His intercession, especially if subjective in and with their spirits, may properly be described as the intercession of the Holy Ghost.

The Scripture makes it clear that the battle is not our personal battle. We are part of the war but the battle is the Lord’s. We are led by the unconquerable One. The battle rests upon His ability and He has already won the war! Read (Jn. 14: 15-27).

Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man, (I Tim. 2:5). His mission was fully accomplished. He is in full control and is exalted to the Father’s right hand and is the Master with almighty power.

Jesus came to defy the power of Satan, (Acts 26:18).
He challenged the rule of Satan,(Col. 2:10)
conquered the right to dominion, (Col. 2:14,15)
He set us free from the cause of sin, (I Pet. 3:18)
He can set us free from the curse of sin, (I Pet. 5:10:11).

Life with Jesus Christ can be exciting and blessed with constant triumph over evil forces but the battle never ends. Always remember that you and Jesus are a majority. The warfare is stacked against Satan, not the Christian. They may have periods of darkness and may encounter times of painful struggle and discouragement. Then the Holy Spirit will break through the darkness and moments of exaltation and glory will be experienced. God is always on our side!

Praise God. He never fails to give needed help. Perhaps because the salvation of some seemed to me to be an impossibility, the first verse of Scripture that was given to me was (Mk. 10:27): “With God all things are possible.”

Sin Unspeakable Darkness in the Church

The Bible speaks clearly, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In All thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths,” (Prov. 3:5).

Recognizing the truth about oneself paves the way for freedom. Every Christian has a fleshly body and God is specific about how He feels about the behavior of the flesh in such scriptures as: (Gal. 5:17; Rom. 8:7,8; and Jude 23), which says: “. . . hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.”

Our own understanding is corrupt, selfish, self-centered and it doesn’t matter that we’ve been born again and Christ’s blood applied to our heart.

Our reasoning remains untrustworthy!
Our human understanding is suspicious, fearful.
Our understanding rises with anger, bitterness, fighting, abuse of family members, etc.
All impure thoughts, vile affections and desires which do not become overt actions are real acts of the inner man.

(Phil. 2:12), Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”

David was a man of God who hated sin with everything in him.

“. . . . I hate every false way,” ( Psa. 119:104).
“Ye that love the Lord, hate evil . . . .” (Psa. 97:10).
Yet he committed adultery with Bathsheba and sent her husband to his death to battle!
Bathsheba “. . . mourned for her husband,” (2 Sam. 11:26).
David’s sin had “displeased the Lord,” (verse 27).
He seduced Bathsheba, planned her husband’s death, deceived her by acting as if he was doing the right thing (marrying her after he’d impregnated her).
Ten months after the affair, God sent Nathan the prophet to deal with David’s sin, (2 Sam. 12).

When God convicts you of hidden sin you had better repent; hidden sin in a person, has a tendency to hate other’s sins while being blind to his own.Nathan told David about the rich man who stole his neighbor’s pet lamb, killed it feeding it to his friend; he was enraged. “So help me, that man is dead; he’s going to die”; he’s going to restore the lamb fourfold!” David was en raged against this awful sin.Hidden sin produced an unrighteous, unholy indignation against sin in other and begets a “religious spirit” and a judging spirit.

Preachers today are building big mega churches are told “do not talk about sin, Jesus, the Cross and take all religious symbols out of the sanctuaries; turning congregations from the Christian faith to trusting in wealth and entertainment. These leaders are now circus ring masters presiding over a three ring circus, entertainment, materialistic messages and lost souls on their way to hell.True ministers must cry out against sin and compromise and have a pure hatred for sin must come out of a heart that has been probed searched and judged itself.

David cried out against sin and compromise: “Do I not hate them, O Lord that hate thee? And am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies,” (Psa. 139: 21- 22). This bold statement came out of a repentant broken spirit.; he examined his own heart! He says, “Search me, O God and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts and see if there be any wicked way in me . . . .” (verse 23-24). God does not want judgment for you hidden sins, repent and receive mercy.

Demonstrations of the Power of God part one two

“Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature. . . “ (Col. 1:15).

Who is the image of the invisible God as it is in the corresponding to Eph. 1-39-23, gives the analysis of the exaltation of Jesus the Redeemer. Jesus is the visable representation of the invisible God. .He represents to human beings the excellence of God as a figure Who was forgiving and desired that no one perish.

John 3:16-18, — “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

The blood of Jesus, covers your sin. God sent Him to save you from Hell and that you can enjoy everlasting life with God. Now dear friend, if there had been another way to salvation, God would have never sent Jesus to die in your place. His purpose was not to condemn the world but through Jesus could be rescued from the powers of the Devil.It is simple, God’s provision for your salvation is your will to choose Jesus by receiving his free gift of deliverance from the hands of Satan.
The entire world is in a ruinous state of elimination from God’s forgiveness and about to perish to everlasting judgment of God. Apart from God’s redemption powers of Jesus’sacrificial gift for those who receive Him, every soul is on a course of utter destruction. The sacrifice of Jesus is the only means by which the redemption of humans can be effected and is absolutely sufficient to accomplish Gods design for rescuing humankind.

2 Thess 2:10-12, — “And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

Jesus is God manifested in the flesh, that God, through His eternal love rescues us and gives us many blessings that recovered through Jesus hanging on the tree.There are many benefits for those who believe in Jesus. They receive and escape from eternal perdition and they will not perish; receiving eternal life. They also have access of many operations of grace:

Justification; guilt of sin is removed.
Sanitization: purification of the person’s nature.
Access to throne of God.

2 Thess. 2:13-15 – “But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.”

Demonstration of the Power of God part one

“And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God,” (1 Cor. 2:4,5).

Christians have direct access to the power of God. Sadly, much of the power is squandered on Better Homes and Garden or Disney World sort of Christianity. Jesus fully intended to leave a militant church so that His people could evangelize the world for souls. We are living in perilous times. Nevertheless, it is also a time for great Christian witnessing because of the tremendous darkness that has spread across the world. We are surrounded by the enemy on all fronts and the Church is infiltrated by New Age doctrines camouflaged in new distortions Biblical language. We must be a vigilant, but Word enlightened and inspired by the Holy Spirit.

The Church was purchased with the precious blood of the Eternal Son of God, therefore, like Him is eternal. “Upon this rock” (Petra), said Jesus, “I will build my church.” The Church is not built upon his disciple, Peter, but it is built upon Jesus as the foundation. There is a divine person living in the church; each member of the church is indwelt by the Spirit of God. The Christian has a unique relationship with Jesus. Jesus is shown as the Head of the church and the members are called His Body. He has given his believer’s a power of attorney to act against the power of Satan.

Paul reports, that Jesus rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us from the power of darkness and relocated us into the kingdom of his beloved Son. He writes in the beautiful poetic language of Jesus in (Col. 1:13), make clear Jesus’ sovereignty; a passage celebrates Him as creator and sustainer of the universe and supreme over every creature. He is the head of his body, the church, and the first to conquer death. Although in Christ “all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,” Paul asserts, it was ultimately only through his human suffering–through “the blood of His cross,” (Col. 1:19,20), “That he was able to reconcile all things to God and make peace.”

Paul describes the power of Jesus. “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation: for in Him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible whether thrones or dominions or rulers or powers,” (Col.1: 15-16). Jesus Christ is Lord and we worship Him in the Spirit of truth according to (John. 8:32). Jesus must be at the center of our sermons and our lives that the world can truly see that the Father sent Him.

Father God, in the name of Jesus, I renounce, BREAK, free and loose myself and my family from all psychic heredity, demonic holds, psychic powers, physical and mental illness bondage, family and marital curses, and all other curses upon us, back through all generations, iniquities, occult and psychic involvements of myself or my spouse, our parents and any other of our ancestors. I’m REDEEMED FROM THE CURSE according to Galatians, Chapter 3 says that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us, so that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ, that we might be heirs of the promise of the promise of the Spirit.” First Peter, Chapter 3, says a man and his wife are heirs together of the grace of life.

Satan, I BIND you, in the name of Jesus. You can no longer exercise dominion over me.

According to Matthew 18:18, I cut Satan, his demons and curses LOOSE from me, my family. I command you, Satan and all evil spirits and curses, to LOOSE me, and my family, and all the things you have stolen from us, that are ours through the blessings of Jesus. I ask You, Lord, to send Your angels to bring these things back to us.
I LOOSE Your power over us and ask You to our Commander in Chief, Jesus, and send Your holy angels to fight our battles in the heavenlies. Let them guard us from Satan and all his hosts who would have us believing and agreeing with lies. In the name of Jesus, we bind and cancel all deception within us, and prevent any more deception from attacking us.
All fears I LOOSE perfect agape, true and pure love, the love of God and our love for each other (1st John 4:18), a sound mind and self control (2nd Timothy 1:7 & Micah 3:8).
Our minds I LOOSE knowledge, revelation, understanding (John 8:32), wisdom (Job 20:3), truth (Exodus 28:3 & Ephesians 1:17), diligent searching (John 14:17 & 1st John 4:6), freedom (Psalm 77:6), and deliverance (Psalm 51:12).
Marriages and against all family destroying spirits, I LOOSE God’s family protecting angels (Genesis 2-4)
Rejection, I LOOSE the love of the brethren (1st John 3:14), acceptance in the beloved (Ephesians 1:6), acceptance of God and approval of men (Romans 14:18), and adoption as children of God (Romans 8:15).
Release our power of praise (Isaiah 61:3), thankfulness, worship (John 4:23), singing (1st Corinthians 14:15), prayer (1st Corinthians 4:21), all the Holy Spirit fruit (Galatians 5:22-23), love, joy, peace, patience, longsuffering (Ecclesiastes 7:8), gentleness, kindness, goodness, faithfulness (Proverbs 1:19 & Isaiah 57:15), temperance, self-control, all the gifts of the Holy Spirit (1st Corinthians 12:8-10), wisdom, knowledge, faith (2nd Corinthians 4:12), prophecies, healings, miracles (Revelation 19:10), tongues, interpretation of tongues, discernment of spirits, quiet (1st Peter 3:4), constraining (Job 32:18), contrite (Psalm 51:17), judgment (Isaiah 4:4, 28:6), repentance, and conviction (Isaiah 57:15, 66:2) in Jesus’ name.

Increase Our Faith Lord of Hosts

Father build us up in our most holy faith according to Your Word, “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given to me in heaven and in earth . . .” Matthew 28:18; revealed as Deity with absolute sovereignty and authority for eternity.

There are 273 instances of the phrase “Lord of Hosts” in the Old Testament and this word referring to “armies” – whether human or angelic.

Isaiah 40:22 says that God sits upon the circle of the earth!
Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the king of glory. Selah.” — Psalm 24:10.
“Lord” is the covenant name of God.

Each and every born-again believer had been given authority delegated from Jesus Christ. Jesus has given His authority to us to overcome all the power of the enemy and His command and is given to all to whom He commissions.

The seventy Luke 10:1:1,19.
Every Believer.

“He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation . . . And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons . . .” Mark 16:15, 17.

Knowing authority enables one to enter into spiritual warfare with faith to overcome; each Christian must learn that he has power over any and every demonic strong man. We, as true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, can bind and cast out demons. “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you,” Luke 10:19.

Christ’s believers have spiritual ability of the Holy Spirit and the authority of the name of Jesus. “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given unto me, Therefore go . . . ” — Matthew 28:28. He gave the power and authority to go; “Far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come,” Ephesians 1:21. His power is above all power.
